Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Prime Minister Carney

I have been writing about the amazing National Parks in Canada for the past few weeks - and have more of these beautiful places to write about over the coming weeks, but today I want to write a little about Canada's Prime Minister, Mark Carney. The past few days the G7 has been in the news and the difference between the USA's president and Canada's Prime Minister could not be more clear.

While the USA's massively corrupt, extremely unwell president seemed out of touch, unsure of even where he was, and mumbled quite a bit, Canada's Prime Minister clearly was in France to secure crucial security, industrial, and trade agreements which will make life better for Canadians. I found this excellent outline of all Prime Minister Carney accomplished online and am happy to share it with you today -

Key accomplishments during his trip included:

• Defense and Intelligence: Announced a new General Security of Information Agreement (GSOIA) with French President Emmanuel Macron. This allows Canada and France to share sensitive information and collaborate closely on emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum science. 
• Aerospace Exports: Finalized a deal to secure France's purchase of two additional DHC 515 water bombers from Calgary-based De Havilland Aircraft of Canada. This expands Canada's aerospace footprint in Europe while bolstering international climate resilience. 
• G7 Leadership: Collaborated directly with France—which holds the current G7 Presidency—to set frameworks for global AI governance, critical minerals security, and energy infrastructure safety.
• Economic Strategy: Pursued a broader Canadian strategy to double non-U.S. exports over the next decade. During the subsequent G7 meetings in Evian, Carney positioned Canada as a reliable partner in clean energy and international security.

Impressive! Yes, absolutely everything Prime Minister Carney says and does shows how Canada is a reliable partner with the rest of the free world!

By comparison, the "accomplishments" of the US's president are as follows . . .

Key developments from his visit include:

• Iran Agreement: Trump touted and signed a preliminary framework and ceasefire agreement with Iran which targets reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while negotiations over nuclear issues were extended. (It must be said, this "agreement" gained nothing for the USA which we did not already have before this illegal war in Iran began AND this "agreement" is not "better" than the one President Obama made with Iran during the time when he was President.)
• Global Summit Sessions: In Evian, Trump participated in G7 sessions discussing artificial intelligence, economic growth, and the ongoing war in Ukraine, where he met with world leaders and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. 
• Versailles Dinner: French President Emmanuel Macron hosted Trump for a lavish, high-stakes diplomatic dinner and tour at the Palace of Versailles to celebrate the U.S. 250th anniversary of independence and foster transatlantic relations.

Over and over when asked about important issues in the world, the USA's president said he didn't care. He only cared about being seen with world leaders and having a dinner in Versailles. 

Nearly every day for the past year and a half we have experienced this "president" bringing shame on the USA because of his massive corruption. This "Lost Canadian" is also a very "thankful Canadian" as because I am now able to be part of the Canadian people, I am finally able to respect a leader who sees his job as one where he needs to work to do all he can to make the lives his people better - not just to enrich himself and surround himself with fancy things.

Thank you Canada. Thank you Prime Minister Carney. This "Lost Canadian" is ever so thankful.
