- Canadian officials claim Santa as a citizen and even issued Santa a passport.
- Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander presented Santa and Mrs. Claus with the 2,999,999th and 3,000,000th ePassports at a special ceremony in Vaughan, Ontario to ensure they have the automatic right to re-enter Canada after global delivery trips.
- In 2008 and 2010, the Canadian government officially declared Santa and Mrs. Claus to be Canadian citizens.
- Canada Post has dedicated the famous postal code H0H 0H0 to Santa's workshop.
- Canada Post operates an official letter-writing program. Children can mail letters addressed to Santa Claus at the North Pole, Canada, H0H 0H0, and receive personalized replies in multiple languages.

- The geographic North Pole is an icy region in the middle of the Arctic Ocean. Because of this, Canada, Russia, and the Kingdom of Denmark (via Greenland) have made competing legal claims over the Arctic seabed.
