Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Things Which Show Canada is Amazing - Their People

I've been writing this week about how in light of the tremendously rude and disrespectful way the massively corrupt convicted felon/sexual abuser who currently occupies the white house here in the US has been talking about and treating our dear neighbors, friends, allies, and family in Canada, I am spending this week just learning more about Canada - and sharing what I learn about how Canada is an amazing place - and there are a few more days to share - today I'm sharing how Canada is amazing because of their people! Online I learned . . .

  • Friendliness: Canadians are known worldwide for being polite, welcoming, and helpful.
  • High Quality of Life: The country consistently ranks high for safety, clean air, health care, and education.
  • Iconic Traditions: From world-class hockey to delicious maple syrup, Canada has a warm and distinct national identity.
  • Welcoming and Polite: Canadians have a global reputation for being warm, easygoing, and respectful to neighbors and strangers alike.
  • Embracing Diversity: Canada is a vibrant cultural mosaic where people from all over the world are encouraged to keep and share their unique traditions, languages, and beliefs.
  • Connection to Nature: Growing up alongside vast forests, mountains, and lakes fosters a shared respect for the environment and a grounded, outdoor-loving spirit.
  • Value for Peace: A strong national focus on safety, social support, and ordered liberty helps build peaceful, trusting communities.
  • Everyday Empathy: People in Canada are known for small, genuine acts like holding doors, shoveling a neighbor’s walk, or checking in on strangers during harsh winter storms.
  • The "Sorry" Culture: Saying sorry isn't just about fault; it is a polite social reflex which keeps public interactions smooth and harmonious.
  • Volunteer Spirit: Communities across the country rely on high rates of volunteering for local sports leagues, food banks, and disaster relief.
  • The Cultural Mosaic: Canadians embrace a cultural mosaic rather than a melting pot, meaning people preserve their unique heritages while sharing a common national identity.
  • Northern Grit: Living through long, freezing winters builds a tough yet easygoing attitude and a shared knack for finding joy in the cold.
  • Yes, the people of Canada absolutely show how amazing Canada is! They have strength, a sense of humor, a strong community spirit, and while they are most surely polite, they will firmly stand up for themselves - this "Lost Canadian" is happy for all these things, but sad they have to stand up for themselves against the massively corrupt toddler in the white house.
