Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Canada's Strength - Which is Seen By the World

The past few days have clearly shown no matter how many "tantrums" are thrown by the toddler-in-chief here in the US, the bully in the White House, the evidence shows Canada is strong and united. Of course, even if I were not a "Lost Canadian", as a Michigander I find the things trump and his minions are saying are beyond insulting to Canada and shameful for the supposed "leader" of the US, but I am SO impressed by the strength and unity we are seeing from Canada.

As I've said, I grew up and live in Michigan, Canada is our close neighbor and friend, and as a "Lost Canadian", Canada is also my family, so this week I'm very happy to write about just some of the things which show Canada's great strength - in no particular order as they all are significant ways Canada shows its great strength - today I'm writing about how the entire world sees Canada for the strong country they are.

As of 2026, Canada maintains strong global standing through high soft power, a top-tier G7 economic position, and abundant natural resource leverage.
Economic and Financial Strength
  • G7 Standing: Canada holds the 11th-largest nominal GDP globally, estimated at roughly US$2.51 trillion.
  • Debt Advantage: Canada maintains the lowest net debt-to-GDP ratio among all G7 nations.
  • Growth and Investment: The economy continues to see strong foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows per capita and competitive projected growth rates within the G7.
Soft Power and Global Reputation
  • Soft Power Rank: Canada ranks 8th globally on the Global Soft Power Index 2026 due to political stability, ease of doing business, and quality of life.
  • Global Approval: International surveys show that 85% of global respondents view Canada's influence positively, giving the nation a strong diplomatic foundation.
Geopolitical and Strategic Leverage
  • Resource Wealth: Canada holds vital global supplies of energy, uranium, and critical minerals, making it a strategic partner for secure global supply chains.
  • Defense Commitments: Canada reached key milestone commitments toward meeting its NATO defense spending targets in early 2026.
  • Trade Diversification: While managing trade friction and tariff disputes with the United States, Canada actively pursues economic diversification into non-U.S. markets
The whole world is watching as Canada stands up and shows its strength as it deals with the massively corrupt convicted felon/sexual abuser, likely pedophile "toddler-in-chief" currently occupying the White House. The whole worlds is impressed and Canada's strength - and standing in the world is growing even stronger as they model to the world what it looks like to come together and stand up to a bully - they clearly have a strength which at this time those of us in the US can only hope will happen here one day.

Canada is absolutely a strong leader - and the entire world knows it!
